GWODEO mobilized the community of the Nile landing site which had no proper sanitation for many years to participate in silent demonstrations against poor sanitation conditions in the community. At the time, they were using the river bank for a latrine. They pooled the little money they could and constructed an ecological sanitation latrine (EcoSan). This move attracted the attention of the Njeru town council to construct a proper waterborne toilet for this community.

The music dance and drama groups have made a concerted effort in disseminating information about HIV/AIDS, children’s and women's rights, reproductive health, climate change, etc.

GWODEO, unpleased with the persistent mistreatment of patients by Jinja Hospital staff forwarded a request for rescue by the Uganda Human Rights Commission. The letter, in which copies were sent to several authorities including the Ministry of Health raised grave concerns. A few weeks later, the government announced a ban on selling government medicine by medics in the hospital.
