Care and Support for:

  • HIV/AIDS infected and affected. GWODEO has registered over 300 HIV-positive persons in areas including Njeru Town Council in Buikwe District, Busede Sub County in Jinja District, and Baitambogwe Sub County in Mayuge District. Over 300 beneficiaries, including men and women, have received assistance with apparel, beddings, traditional wear, and shoes.
  • Over 1,000 orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC) have been registered in the previously mentioned districts and have received material support. They were given apparel, shoes, and toys. 30 OVCs were provided with scholastic materials.

GWODEO, in partnership with DO U CARE, donated two footballs, jerseys, boots, sports kits, and one pump to soccer teams in Jinja District back then. This was back in 2005 when we held football matches to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention, stigma, treatment, and relationships in general amongst the youth.

  • Disabled and the elderly. Over 30 elderly and persons with disability have been registered as needy. Some of them are raising orphaned children and need extra assistance. To that end, we provided a leather sewing machine and a wheelchair to a disabled man in Mukono district. That way, he could work and raise funds to sustain himself and the children under his care.

We also provided sugar, millet, and soya flour for three elderly women and one man whose orphans were severely malnourished.

  • During the tough times of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021, we donated and distributed personal care items to vulnerable beneficiaries in Buikwe, Mukono, Mayuge, and Jinja districts. It was a delight to offer the much-needed help.
